At the Oceana Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa |
I’ve been to Africa so many times in the last two and a half years simply because I fell in love with this wonderful continent after a two-week holiday that took us to Johannesburg, Greater Kruger Park (Sabi Sands) and the Western Cape.

What a wonderful and happy trip that was, discovering some of the best of Africa in two weeks.
And when I think about this particular trip, even now, I always smile.

CHECKING OUTTHE EASTERN CAPE:PORT ALFRED AND PORT ELIZABETH
For this trip, however, I decided to include the Eastern Cape in the picture simply because it’s somewhere I’ve never been to.
There are still lots of places to go to in South Africa — two places on my bucket list are the Garden Route and a particular lodge near the Cederberg Mountains — but I thought I’d cross the Eastern Cape off my list.
THE BEST SAFARI LODGES IN THE EASTERN CAPE
We stayed in three of the best lodges in the Eastern Cape, including Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve, which is a very unique luxury safari experience.

A privately owned estate, Oceana has the most incredible beach I have ever seen in my #Travelife, plus a safari experience.
So you have the best of both worlds, with the beauty of the sea and the attraction of wild animals rolled into one.
THE BEAUTIFUL SUITESOF OCEANA BEACH AND WILDLIFE RESERVE

This was a very nice lodge and the oceanview suites — which are really villas — are beautiful. They have large terraces, a spacious bedroom and two bathrooms.
The meals, too, were very good. We loved the dining experience here. It was not gourmet food, but it was proper good food.
EGGS BENEDICT WITH A VIEW
Breakfast was particularly wonderful, especially with that killer sea view and a couple of giraffe and zebra roaming around.
What a way to start every morning.

I loved ordering eggs benedict here every day — if you’ve traveled with me, you’ll know by now that this is my standard breakfast fare on holiday — and having this with a view of the ocean next to me.
The yoghurt and fruits served at Oceana for breakfast were also incredible, owing perhaps to the quality of food in this part of Africa.
One day I remarked to our waistaff: “This yoghurt with granola is so good.“
She nodded, and added: “I know. Lots of our guests say the same thing. And it’s really funny, but when I try doing it at home, it’s just not the same.”
I could’ve told her that.
Having breakfast in this beautiful lodge with a spectacular view of the ocean everyday certainly started my days on the perfect note, in the East Coast of Africa, living a never-ending, and never-endingly eventful #Travelife.
